Neer Test

The Neer Test is a physical examination used by healthcare providers to identify shoulder impingement, where shoulder tendons become compressed during movement. To perform it, the examiner raises your arm straight in front of you while keeping the palm facing downward, subtly applying pressure. If this movement causes pain over the front of your shoulder, it suggests impingement of the rotator cuff tendons or bursa. This test helps clinicians assess shoulder conditions related to rotator cuff injuries or inflammation and guides further diagnosis and treatment planning.
