Necho II was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who ruled from about 610 to 595 BCE. He is best known for his ambitious building projects, including the completion of the lighthouse at Alexandria, and for attempting to establish a trade route to connect the Mediterranean with the Red Sea. Necho is also notable for his military campaigns, including a significant battle against the Babylonians.
