Nazi occupation of Italy
The Nazi occupation of Italy occurred during World War II, starting in 1943 when Germany's military forces took control after Italy surrendered to the Allies. Nazi troops governed parts of Italy, especially the north, implementing harsh repression, anti-Semitic policies, and supporting fascist regimes. This occupation caused widespread suffering, resistance movements, and civilian casualties. It lasted until 1945, when Allied forces regained control and Italy moved toward rebuilding its democracy.
