Naval Mines

Naval mines are explosive devices placed in the water to defend or control maritime areas. They are designed to detect or be triggered by ships or submarines, causing damage or sinking them. Mines can be anchored to the seafloor, drift with currents, or be rapidly deployed in strategic locations. They serve as passive defense or offensive tools, often hidden and difficult to detect. Modern mines may use acoustic, magnetic, or pressure sensors to identify targets. While effective, their use requires careful management to avoid unintended damage to civilian ships and ecosystems.
