Nausea and Vomiting of Pregnancy (NVP)

Nausea and Vomiting of Pregnancy (NVP), commonly called morning sickness, is a common condition experienced by many pregnant women, especially in the first trimester. It involves feelings of nausea, queasiness, and sometimes vomiting. NVP is thought to be caused by hormonal changes, particularly increased levels of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and estrogen. While it can be uncomfortable, it usually resolves on its own by the second or third trimester. Managing NVP may include eating small, frequent meals, avoiding strong odors, and staying hydrated. If symptoms are severe, medical advice should be sought to ensure both mother and baby are healthy.
