
Naum of Ohrid
Naum of Ohrid was a 10th-century Bulgarian scholar, theologian, and monk, renowned for his role in developing the Cyrillic alphabet and promoting literacy and Christianity in the Balkans. He co-founded the Ohrid Literary School, which became a major center of learning, arts, and religious activity. Naum’s work helped preserve Slavic culture and religious texts during a time of political change. He is also remembered as a saint in the Eastern Orthodox tradition and is venerated for his contributions to education, culture, and spiritual life in the region.
