National Merit Scholarship Corporation

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) is a nonprofit organization that recognizes academically talented students across the United States. It conducts a nationwide competition based on standardized test scores, primarily the PSAT. High-scoring students become semifinalists and can advance to finalist status by meeting additional academic and essay requirements. Selected semifinalists may receive scholarship offers to help fund their college education. The NMSC’s goal is to encourage academic excellence and support students in achieving higher education goals.
