National Liberation Army (Ejército de Liberación Nacional)
The National Liberation Army (Ejército de Liberación Nacional, or ELN) is a Colombian guerrilla group founded in 1964, inspired by revolutionary ideas and influenced by Marxist ideology. It seeks social and political change through armed resistance against the Colombian government, often advocating for the rights of marginalized populations. The ELN has been involved in conflicts, including attacks on infrastructure and security forces, and aims to challenge existing political and economic systems. Although it has declared some ceasefires, it remains engaged in ongoing conflict, and efforts continue toward peace negotiations.
