The National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS) was an organization established in the late 1990s focused on investigating unusual phenomena, including unexplained aerial objects and other paranormal claims. Founded by filmmaker and entrepreneur Robert Bigelow, it aimed to apply scientific methods to study these topics, seeking evidence and fostering research. Although it garnered attention for its unconventional subject matter, NIDS was not a mainstream scientific institution and ultimately ceased operations in the early 2000s.
