National Congress of Brazil
The National Congress of Brazil is the country's legislative body, comprised of two chambers: the Federal Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. It is responsible for making federal laws, overseeing the government, and representing the interests of Brazilian citizens. The Senate has 81 members, with three from each of Brazil's 26 states and the Federal District, serving staggered six-year terms. The Chamber of Deputies has 513 members elected for four-year terms, based on state populations. Together, the Congress debates, amends, and approves legislation, ensuring democratic governance and checks and balances in Brazil's political system.
