NASH (Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis)
NASH (Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis) is a liver condition where fat builds up in the liver cells, causing inflammation and damage, not related to alcohol consumption. Over time, this can lead to scarring (fibrosis) and potentially serious liver problems, including cirrhosis or liver failure. It often occurs in people with metabolic issues like obesity, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol. NASH is usually silent in early stages but can be diagnosed through imaging and blood tests. Managing risk factors through lifestyle changes, such as healthy diet and exercise, is key to preventing progression.
