NASD (National Association of Securities Dealers)

The National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) was a self-regulatory organization founded in 1939 to oversee the securities industry in the United States. It established rules and standards for brokers and firms to promote fair practices and protect investors. NASD played a key role in enforcing compliance and educating industry participants. In 2007, it merged into the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), which continues to regulate the brokerage industry, ensuring transparency, fairness, and ethical conduct in financial transactions to maintain investor confidence in the securities markets.
