Nagana
Nagana is a disease caused by parasites transmitted by tsetse flies, mainly affecting animals like cattle and horses in Africa. The parasites attack the animals’ blood and nervous system, leading to symptoms such as fever, weakness, weight loss, and lethargy. If untreated, it can cause severe health issues and even death, negatively impacting agriculture and livelihoods. The disease also hampers economic development in affected regions. Control methods include vector management, such as trapping or reducing tsetse fly populations, and administering appropriate medications to infected animals.
