Nabopolassar
Nabopolassar was the founder of the Neo-Babylonian Empire, ruling from 626 to 605 BCE. A skilled military leader and politician, he successfully established Babylon as a major power in Mesopotamia. He led the revolt against the Assyrian Empire, which was declining at the time, and expanded Babylon’s influence through strategic warfare and alliances. Nabopolassar's reign laid the foundation for his son, Nebuchadnezzar II, to further expand and strengthen the empire. His leadership marked the resurgence of Babylonian independence and cultural influence in the ancient Near East.
