Mumps Symptoms
Mumps is a contagious viral infection characterized primarily by swollen salivary glands, typically on one or both sides of the face, giving a puffy appearance. Other symptoms can include fever, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, and loss of appetite. While often mild, mumps can lead to more serious complications like meningitis or orchitis (swelling of the testicles) in adult males. Vaccination with the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella) is effective in preventing the disease. If you suspect mumps, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider for appropriate guidance.
