Mumps

Mumps is a contagious viral infection characterized by swelling of the salivary glands, especially near the jawline. It spreads through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Along with swollen glands, symptoms may include fever, headache, and fatigue. While most people recover without serious complications, mumps can lead to more severe issues like meningitis or orchitis (inflammation of the testicles) in some cases. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent mumps, and the MMR vaccine protects against measles, mumps, and rubella in children and adults.
