Multifidus

The multifidus is a deep-set group of small muscles located along the spine. They run along each side of the vertebrae, from the lower back up to the neck. These muscles play a crucial role in stabilizing the spine during movement, preventing excessive or abrupt motions that could cause injury. They also help maintain proper posture and support the spine during daily activities. Because of their important stabilizing function, the multifidus is often targeted in rehab exercises when recovering from back pain or injury, promoting better spinal health and strength.
