Mullah Omar

Mullah Omar was the leader of the Taliban, an Islamist militant group that ruled Afghanistan from 1996 until 2001. He was known for his strict interpretation of Sharia law and for enforcing policies that restricted women’s rights and suppressed cultural activities. After the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, which aimed to dismantle al-Qaeda and remove the Taliban from power, Mullah Omar went into hiding. He remained an influential figure in the insurgency against the Afghan government and foreign forces until his death, which was revealed in 2015. His leadership left a significant mark on Afghan politics and society.
