Mulberry Harbors

Mulberry Harbors were temporary portable harbors created by the Allies during World War II to facilitate rapid troop and equipment landing on the beaches of Normandy, France, after D-Day. These prefabricated structures included floating breakwaters, piers, and other modules that could be assembled quickly offshore to protect ships from waves and attack, and then be used as docks for unloading supplies. Designed for quick deployment, they greatly enhanced the success of the invasion by ensuring supplies and reinforcements could reach the advancing troops efficiently, playing a crucial role in the Allied effort to establish a foothold in occupied Europe.
