Mt. Tambora

Mount Tambora is a volcano located on the island of Sumbawa in Indonesia. It is famous for its catastrophic eruption in 1815, one of the most powerful in recorded history. This eruption expelled massive amounts of ash and gases into the atmosphere, leading to significant global climate changes. The following year, 1816, became known as the "Year Without a Summer," resulting in widespread crop failures and food shortages in the Northern Hemisphere. Tambora remains an active volcano today and serves as a key site for studying volcanic activity and its environmental impacts.
