Mountain Gorillas

Mountain gorillas are a subspecies of the eastern gorilla, primarily found in the volcanic forests of the Virunga Mountains in central Africa and Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. They are known for their thick fur, which helps them survive in cooler climates. Mountain gorillas are social animals, living in family groups led by a dominant male, often called a silverback. They are herbivorous, primarily eating leaves, stems, and fruits. Although they are critically endangered due to habitat loss and poaching, conservation efforts have helped increase their population in recent years. Their gentle nature and intelligence make them a focus of wildlife tourism.
