Motivation-Hygiene Theory (Herzberg)

Herzberg's Motivation-Hygiene Theory suggests that job satisfaction and dissatisfaction stem from different factors. Motivators, like achievement, recognition, and personal growth, actively promote job satisfaction and engagement. Hygiene factors, such as salary, working conditions, and job security, prevent dissatisfaction but don't motivate employees by themselves. When hygiene factors are inadequate, employees feel unhappy; however, improving these factors alone won't necessarily increase motivation. True motivation comes from enhancing motivators, which lead to a more fulfilled and productive workforce.
