Mormon Pioneer Movement
The Mormon Pioneer Movement refers to the 19th-century migration of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) seeking religious freedom. Facing persecution in the eastern United States, they embarked on challenging journeys westward, primarily to Utah, then part of Mexico. Starting in 1846, thousands traveled over harsh terrains by wagon, foot, and other means, establishing a new community in the Salt Lake Valley. This movement was significant for shaping Mormon history, fostering a sense of perseverance, faith, and community resilience in the face of hardship.
