Moreton Bay Company
The Moreton Bay Company was established in the early 19th century in Australia to manage the settlement and development of the Moreton Bay region, which is part of present-day Queensland. Founded in 1824, the company aimed to control land use and promote agricultural and economic growth, while overseeing a penal colony in the area. It played a significant role in shaping the region's early infrastructure, society, and economy. However, its activities faced challenges and ultimately led to its dissolution in 1842, after which the region transitioned to free settlement and continued to grow independently.
