Moreton Bay Bugs

Moreton Bay Bugs are a type of marine crustacean found in the waters off Queensland, Australia. They resemble lobsters but are smaller and have a distinctive blue-green coloration with prominent claws. These crustaceans live on the seabed, burrowing in mud and sand, and are valued for their delicate, sweet meat, often enjoyed as seafood. They play a role in maintaining healthy ocean ecosystems by scavenging dead material on the seabed. While they are related to lobsters, Moreton Bay Bugs are a separate species with unique characteristics, making them a prized catch for both commercial and recreational fishing.
