Monk's Mound

Monk's Mound is a massive earthen structure located in Cahokia, an ancient Native American city near present-day St. Louis, Missouri. Dating back to around 1000 A.D., it is the largest pre-Columbian earthwork in the Americas, standing nearly 100 feet tall. The mound was likely used for ceremonial purposes and possibly served as a platform for a significant building, such as a temple.
