Mohammed Najibullah

Mohammed Najibullah was an Afghan political leader who served as President of Afghanistan from 1987 to 1992. He was a member of the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan, aligned with communist ideals during the Cold War. Najibullah worked to stabilize Afghanistan amid ongoing civil war and Soviet influence. His government faced resistance from various rebel groups and ethnic factions. Despite efforts to maintain control, his presidency ended with the collapse of the communist regime, and he was ultimately captured and executed in 1996 during the ensuing conflict.
