Mohamed ElBaradei is an Egyptian diplomat and lawyer who served as the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from 1997 to 2009. He's known for his work in promoting nuclear non-proliferation—preventing the spread of nuclear weapons—and ensuring the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Under his leadership, the IAEA played a key role in monitoring Iran's nuclear activities and addressing concerns about Iraq's weapons programs. ElBaradei was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 for his efforts to prevent nuclear conflict and foster global security through diplomacy.
