Mixed connective tissue disease

Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD) is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's tissues, causing symptoms of multiple conditions like lupus, scleroderma, and polymyositis. Common signs include fatigue, joint pain, swelling, muscle weakness, and Raynaud’s phenomenon (color changes in fingers or toes in response to cold). MCTD can affect the skin, muscles, and internal organs. Its exact cause is unknown, but it involves immune system dysregulation. While there is no cure, treatments like immunosuppressants and anti-inflammatory drugs help manage symptoms and prevent organ damage. Regular medical care is essential for controlling the disease.
