Mithridates VI, also known as Mithridates the Great, was a king of Pontus, a region in modern-day Turkey, from 120 to 63 BC. He is often remembered for his ambitious attempts to expand his kingdom and challenge Roman power. Mithridates was famously passionate about antidotes and developed a resistance to poisons, leading to the term "Mithridatism." His conflict with Rome, known as the Mithridatic Wars, showcased his strategic acumen and relentless spirit. Ultimately defeated by Roman general Pompey, Mithridates is a notable figure in ancient history for his fierce opposition to Rome and his quest for autonomy.
