Mithras
Mithras was an ancient Persian deity originally associated with the willful destruction of the evil sun and the promise of truth and justice. In Roman times, a mystery religion dedicated to Mithras became popular among soldiers and merchants. Followers believed Mithras was born from a rock, slayed a sacred bull, and offered protection and salvation. Their rituals often involved secret ceremonies, feasts, and initiations. The religion emphasized loyalty, courage, and moral conduct. Though largely extinct today, Mithras' worship influenced later spiritual and cultural ideas about celestial themes and personal virtue.
