Mithradates (Mithridates)

Mithradates VI, known as Mithradates the Great, was a powerful ruler of ancient Persia's eastern territories (Pontus) during the 1st century BCE. He was renowned for his fierce resistance against Roman expansion, leading several wars called the Mithridatic Wars. Mithradates was also famous for his obsession with avoiding poisoning—he reportedly took small doses of toxins over time to build immunity—and for his charismatic leadership and strategic skills. His reign marked a significant chapter in the struggle between Rome and Asia Minor, leaving a lasting legacy in the history of ancient warfare and diplomacy.
