Minority Purchase

A minority purchase in mergers and acquisitions occurs when one company buys a less than 50% stake in another company. This means the purchasing company gains some influence or partial ownership but does not fully control the company. This strategy allows the buyer to invest in, support, or benefit from the growth of the target company while sharing risks. It can be a way to enter a market or sector without taking on all the responsibilities of full ownership.
