The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) is a department of the UK government responsible for overseeing housing, community development, and local government issues. Its main goals include ensuring everyone has access to affordable housing, supporting local communities, and fostering economic growth across regions. MHCLG creates policies and provides funding to improve local services, promote social cohesion, and enhance public spaces. It also plays a key role in responding to housing crises and managing planning regulations to shape sustainable communities. In 2021, it was renamed the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
