Minimal Change Disease

Minimal Change Disease is a kidney disorder where the tiny filters in the kidneys, called glomeruli, become less effective at preventing protein from leaking into the urine. Despite appearing normal under a standard microscope, these glomeruli's function is impaired. This leads to you losing an excessive amount of protein, causing swelling in parts of the body like the legs and ankles. The exact cause is often unknown, but it is more common in children and may respond well to steroid treatment. Overall, it’s a condition that affects kidney filtering ability, leading to protein loss and fluid retention.
