Mind-Brain Identity Theory
Mind-Brain Identity Theory posits that mental states, like thoughts and feelings, are identical to physical states in the brain. This means that what we experience as consciousness is directly linked to brain activity. In the context of the Hard Problem of Consciousness, which questions why and how physical processes in the brain give rise to subjective experiences, the theory suggests that understanding the brain's workings could ultimately explain consciousness itself. However, critics argue that this view may overlook the rich, personal aspects of our experiences that seem difficult to reduce to mere brain functions.
