Millage Rate
The millage rate is a tax rate used by local governments to calculate property taxes. It measures the amount of tax per $1,000 of assessed property value. For example, a millage rate of 10 means you'll pay $10 in taxes for every $1,000 of your property's assessed value. To determine your property tax, you multiply your property’s assessed value by the millage rate and divide by 1,000. This rate is often set by local authorities to fund public services like schools, roads, and emergency services, and can vary from one area to another.
