Michael Haydn (1737–1806) was an Austrian composer and the younger brother of the more famous Joseph Haydn. He was a significant figure in the Classical music period, known for his symphonies, choral works, and string quartets. Although often overshadowed by Joseph, Michael made important contributions to church music and composed around 50 symphonies. His style features a blend of lyrical melodies and rich harmonies, reflecting influences of the early Classical era. Michael Haydn's work helped pave the way for future composers and he is appreciated for his role in the development of orchestral and chamber music.
