Methanol Production

Methanol production primarily involves converting natural gas into methanol, a simple alcohol used as fuel and in various industrial applications. The process typically starts with reforming natural gas, where it is heated with steam and oxygen to produce a mixture of hydrogen and carbon dioxide. This gas mixture is then subjected to a chemical reaction in the presence of a catalyst, converting it into methanol. Other feedstocks, like biomass or coal, can also be used. Methanol is valuable for its versatility, serving as a fuel, chemical precursor, and as an energy carrier in the transition to sustainable energy sources.
