Metatarsals
The metatarsals are five long bones located in the middle part of your foot, connecting your toes to the rest of the foot. They form the arch and provide support, balance, and facilitate walking and running. Each metatarsal is numbered from one to five, starting with the big toe. These bones help distribute your weight evenly when you stand or move. They also serve as attachment points for muscles and ligaments, contributing to foot stability and movement. Injuries like fractures or stress fractures to the metatarsals are common and can cause pain and difficulty walking.
