Metaphilosophy
Metaphilosophy is the study of the nature, methods, and aims of philosophy itself. It examines how philosophical questions are formulated and understood, including the analytic-synthetic distinction (which differentiates between statements that are true by definition and those that require empirical evidence), the role of language and logic in shaping philosophical arguments, and the implications of philosophical concepts in fields like biology. Essentially, metaphilosophy reflects on how we do philosophy, what it means to think philosophically, and how it relates to knowledge in various domains.
