membrane theory

Membrane theory suggests that the universe's fundamental structure is like a vast, multidimensional membrane or "brane." In this concept, our familiar universe resides on this membrane, which exists within a higher-dimensional space. These membranes can have different shapes and interact with each other, potentially explaining phenomena like gravity and dark matter. Essentially, it’s a way of understanding the universe as a higher-dimensional surface, where the familiar laws of physics apply within the membrane, but the broader universe may involve extra dimensions beyond our perception.
