Megasthenes
Megasthenes was an ancient Greek historian and diplomat who lived around the 4th century BCE. He is best known for his detailed descriptions of India, which he gathered as an ambassador to the court of the Indian king Chandragupta Maurya. His writings, although mostly lost today, influenced European knowledge of India for centuries. Megasthenes provided insights into Indian society, geography, and politics, helping early civilizations understand a distant and complex land through his reports and observations.
