Medical Council of India

The Medical Council of India (MCI) was the regulatory body responsible for overseeing medical education and practitioners in India. It set standards for medical colleges, examined and registered doctors, and ensured quality healthcare providers. In 2020, it was replaced by the National Medical Commission (NMC) to improve transparency and accountability. The primary goal was to maintain high standards in medical training and protect patient safety through regulation and accreditation of medical institutions and practitioners.
