Medicaid Expansion

Medicaid Expansion refers to a provision of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that allows states to extend Medicaid coverage to more low-income individuals and families. This means that people earning up to 138% of the federal poverty level may qualify for Medicaid, providing them with access to health care services they might otherwise afford. While the federal government covers a significant portion of the costs, states have the option to participate or not. As a result, not all states have chosen to expand Medicaid, leaving millions without affordable health insurance.
