Mecklenburg-Schwerin
Mecklenburg-Schwerin was a historical duchy located in northern Germany, existing from 1701 to 1918. It was part of the larger Mecklenburg region and centered around the city of Schwerin, which served as its capital. Governed by a duke, it was a member of the Holy Roman Empire and later the German Confederation. The duchy played a significant role in regional politics and culture. After the monarchy's abolition in 1918, Mecklenburg-Schwerin became part of the Weimar Republic's Free State of Mecklenburg. Today, the region is part of the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in modern Germany.
