McIndoe Technique

The McIndoe Technique is a surgical method used to reconstruct damaged facial skin, often after severe burns or injuries. It involves removing dead tissue and then covering the damaged area with a specially prepared skin flap. This flap is taken from nearby healthy skin, usually on the chest or arm, and nurtured until it fully integrates with the facial tissue. The goal is to restore both appearance and function, such as improved breathing or speaking. Developed by Sir Archibald McIndoe, this technique emphasizes careful tissue management to achieve effective healing and cosmetic results.
