McGurk effect
The McGurk effect is a perceptual phenomenon where visual information influences what we hear. When we see a person mouth one sound while hearing a different one, our brain blends these cues, often resulting in a third, different perception. For example, if the lip movements suggest "ga" but the sound played is "ba," we might perceive "da." This demonstrates how our brain integrates visual and auditory signals to interpret speech, highlighting the interconnectedness of our senses in communication.
