Mayors for Peace
Mayors for Peace is an international organization established to promote the abolition of nuclear weapons and to foster peace efforts worldwide. Founded in 1982 by the mayors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it now includes over 8,000 member cities globally. The initiative encourages local governments to advocate for disarmament, engage in peace education, and collaborate on social and community development projects. By uniting cities, Mayors for Peace aims to raise public awareness about the dangers of nuclear weapons and to promote a culture of peace, ultimately striving for a safer world without the threat of nuclear conflict.
