Maurice Raynaud

Maurice Raynaud was a French physician who first described a condition now known as Raynaud’s phenomenon. This condition causes small blood vessels, especially in fingers and toes, to constrict excessively in response to cold or stress. As a result, affected areas may turn white or blue, feel cold or numb, and then turn red as blood flow returns. Raynaud’s can occur on its own or alongside other diseases. It's generally manageable by protecting against cold and managing stress, but severe cases may require medical treatment to improve blood flow and prevent tissue damage.
